You can’t control what others do and you certainly can’t get them to forgive you if they don’t want to, but you can change your perspective about it. Instead of waiting for someone to forgive you for betraying them, use it as a reminder to forgive yourself, but go one step further. Look for other areas or issues in your life where you need to forgive yourself. If you have truly forgiven yourself in at least one other area of your life, then your sense of self-worth and self-acceptance will increase, so it becomes less important that you be forgiven by another. It reduces the pain and burden of your problem.
