In Front of Me

In Front of Me by Benno Poeder

The night is dark
It’s hard to see
The path somewhere
In front of me
A soul left stark
On its own to be
Where is the path
In front of me
If this is the task
Besetting me
Then I’ve lost the path
In front of me
This is no lark
But blasphemy
There is no path
In front of me
Surrender is asked
As I wrestle to see
The path somewhere
In front of me
Faith is marked
For growth in thee
The path alights
In front of me
Strength is grasped
It has to be
The path unfolds
In front of me
Out of the dark
And graciously
My soul takes flight
Within me
