Believer or Not – Take 2

Spiritual masters old and new promote forgiveness as a tool for physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing.  A lack of forgiveness wears out your spirit. It drains your emotions and weighs on your mind. Over time, this ongoing stress affects your physical body. Stress contributes to disease, sickness, pain and terminal unhappiness. Forgiveness helps you to get on with life again, although forgiveness is not always easy.

Believer or not, forgiveness is good for your soul

Forgiveness is not only something you do for your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. It is something you do for your soul, and your God or Goddess. The forgiveness process is not confined to forgiving others, forgiving yourself and seeking forgiveness from others.

If you subscribe to the concept of sacred contracts, a concept posited by Caroline Myss, author of Sacred Contracts – Awakening Your Divine Potential*, then you also have to ask your soul to forgive you. A sacred contract implies that prior to your birth, your soul, on behalf of your body, mind and emotions, signed you up to follow a specific plan and life lessons for your entire life, so this means that you will also you have to forgive your soul for letting things go wrong (as you would also have to appreciate the things that go right) in your life.

Add to this, if you have a God or Goddess that you believe in, then not only do you have to forgive others for what they have done or not done, AND you have to forgive you for what you have done or not done, AND you hope or pray or ask that others will forgive you for what you have done or not done. But you ALSO have to ask your God or Goddess to forgive you. Beyond seeking forgiveness from your God or Goddess, if you are a believer, you ALSO have to forgive your God/Goddess too. Under “God’s Plan”, you have been wronged and now you need to forgive your God or Goddess for letting it happen.

If you subscribe to the concept of a sacred contract, and you want to heal, then your process of forgiveness will involve:

  • Forgiving others
  • Forgiving your self
  • Asking others for their forgiveness
  • Asking your soul to forgive you
  • Forgiving your soul for what happened

If you are a believer, and you want to heal, then your process of forgiveness will involve:

  • Forgiving others
  • Forgiving your self
  • Asking others for their forgiveness
  • Asking your God/Goddess to forgive you
  • Forgiving your God/Goddess for what happened

If you are a believer, AND you subscribe to the concept of a sacred contract, AND you want to heal, then your process of forgiveness will involve:

  • Forgiving others
  • Forgiving your self

  • Asking your God/Goddess to forgive you
  • Forgiving your God/Goddess for what happened
  • Asking your soul to forgive you
  • Forgiving your soul for what happened

A lack of forgiveness is said to obstruct the healing process. When you know who to forgive, and who to ask for forgiveness, and who to go to for forgiveness, then healing becomes a greater possibility.
