Your life purpose is not static. Your ego would like you to believe that once you identify your purpose, your purpose will never change. Your ego wants your life purpose to remain the same for the rest of your life. But that’s not how your soul operates. This wiser part of you knows better than to try to hold your spirit captive.
Your ego tries to maintain control over your life purpose. It sets you up for disappointment, doubt, disenchantment and disillusion. By believing that you have only one life purpose, or that your life purpose will never change, you eventually put a stop on your spiritual growth. Instead, disappointment in your spiritual development efforts grows. Confusion and self-doubt flourish. It can be difficult to find your way out.
Your life purpose will change over and over and over again because the needs of your soul are constantly changing. The needs of your soul change because your soul is always evolving. According to your soul, your life purpose is dynamic. Your life purpose is alive and moving. It is meant to be lived now, in the present moment.
When you need to know your current life purpose, you won’t have to look too far. How much you value a specific personal quality or characteristic can inform you about your current purpose. To help you identify what’s important to you at present, close your eyes for a just moment while you imagine that you have to live your life to its fullest right now. Then open your eyes.
Read through each of the following questions. Choose ONE question to work on.
- What existing personal characteristic do I need to strengthen?
- What characteristic do I need to develop now?
- What personal quality do I admire in others that I would love to possess?
- What persistent personal quality do I dislike in others? Identify a better quality to replace it. Develop that quality in yourself.
Work on ONE characteristic or quality that you feel is most important to you at the moment. Be that quality now, because that is your life purpose right now.
When, and not if, your life purpose reaches its due date, you will need to exchange it for fresh one. Your life purpose is alive and moving. It is meant to be lived now, in the present moment.
