Even though you create your future with the thoughts and feelings you experience today, this does not mean you shouldn’t get upset or be negative, or deny your fears.
When you deny your feelings, positive or negative, or you deny your thoughts, positive or negative, you banish them into the shadows. They become your shadow material. And this hidden psychological material has as much power as the thoughts and feelings you prefer to show the world.
If you deny your upset feelings or negative thoughts, then how can you handle the pressure of a dying parent? Do you practice being detached from the situation even though you are not okay with what’s happening?
If you’re scared and buckling under the pressure of a parent on the waiting list for a healthy heart, and he is getting weaker by the day, what is the best way to handle this?
Some might pray. While others will try to put a positive spin on the situation. It takes a lot of energy to try to talk your self into feeling good when something bad is happening. This is known as spiritual bypassing. I call it whitewashing the truth.
If you’re feeling scared, then the best thing to do for you is to be scared.
Let yourself be scared.
Then use the power it generates in you to get you by in this situation, or to come to terms with it, or use it to propel you forward, or use it to take whatever action is required of you next. Go with the energy of the fear and use it in a constructive way.
Whatever you do, don’t whitewash your truth.
